Advocacy & Policy

One of the objects of The New Zealand Paint Manufacturers Association is "To provide means for the promotion or opposing, in accordance with the interest of the Association Members, of any legislation, regulation, rule or other actions as considered appropriate by the Association."

As most issues impacting the Paint industry are international, we follow a lot of the advocacy and policy lines of the World Coatings Council, as well as having our own unique New Zealand issues.

The World Coatings Council acts as a focal point for monitoring and communicating specified international issues; develops recommendations and analyses on selected topics of common interest and attempts to derive a common consensus position (considering information from policymakers in the governing bodies of the respective participants); coordinates industry positions and communicates with other international organisations, industry publications and other interested parties.
